Where can I find PromiseLand?
Enter the double glass doors off Heath Street, walk straight ahead and go down the stairs that you will find on the left at the end of the hall. Our St. Nicholas Chapel and crafts rooms are about mid-way down the basement corridor, on the left. The basement is also accessible by elevator and our custodian would be happy to assist you.
What options do I have for my baby during worship?
Babies and children are welcome to stay with their families during our services. We also have the Nest, a childcare program for babies and children under the age of four. Tuta Shurdha is our certified Nest coordinator, and every Sunday a volunteer parent or teen accompanies her. The Nest is equipped with lots of toys and games. To find it, enter the double glass doors off Heath Street and go up the first set of stairs that you see on the left. Once up those stairs, walk down the corrider until you get to another staircase, which will be on the left. Go up those stairs to our cozy and colourful nursery space. The greeters at any entrance to the church would also be happy to direct you.
What do the children do each week?
PromiseLand strives to provide a welcoming and engaging environment for children to ask questions, build relationships, and have fun. We believe that faith can be experienced and expressed in many ways including drama, cooking, singing, and even science experiments! Each Sunday all the children gather together to pray, read the Bible, and sing, and then we often split into smaller groups for creative and fun activities such as building and floating arks, dramatizing the Last Supper, and building our very own spiral labyrinth.
What does Christ Church Deer Park offer beyond the Sunday program?
Our special events include our Christmas Eve pageant and family service, a Pancake Tuesday supper, an interactive Stations of the Cross Good Friday service, an Easter egg hunt, a summer barbecue, and a Blessing of the Animals service in October.
What about health & safety concerns?
We are committed to a safe, healthy, and child-friendly environment. We are aware of allergies and take all the necessary precautions including peanut-free and gluten-free options. Our leaders have also completed police record checks and abuse prevention training.
