The Christ Church Deer Park Prayer Circle
Composed of members from our church family, offers support and care to those in our midst who are requesting prayer. Requests are confidential, and we offer prayers during our individual times with God over a two-week period and then as the Holy Spirit leads us to continue. Belonging to the team strengthens our individual prayer lives, keeps us persistent in the discipline of prayer, and helps us feel even more connected to our parish community.
We consider it a privilege to serve our siblings in Christ in this way. We hope that all parishioners are assured that they are not alone in their struggles and with whatever it is they need prayer for.

Prayers of the People
On Sundays we have prayers for our church, the world, our city, and ourselves. These prayers are written by members of the congregation and they reflect the things weighing heavy – and our hopes and joys – for God’s world. Writing the prayers of the people is a ministry open to all – get in touch with Rev. Alison to get involved!
Community Connection Groups
These small groups are an opportunity for CCDP members to gather weekly (either virtually or in person) with the goal of deepening our faith and friendships as we dialogue together and increase our understanding of what it means to follow Jesus.
We do this by discussing the weekly sermon and how it might apply to our daily lives as we learn to support one another at whatever point we are at in our faith journey.
Our goal for Community Connection Groups is to provide a space to foster authentic relationships in which we can share our stories, explore, ask questions and nurture our Christian faith.

Truth and Reconciliation group
This fall, we are doing a book club to read and discuss an Indigenous author’s experience as part of our ongoing commitment to truth and reconciliation. It will be on Monday nights starting in October.

There are so many ways to get involved at CCDP!
On Sunday mornings, we have teams of greeters who welcome people, hospitality with coffee and tea, and the incredible work of our Altar Guild making things beautiful at the front!
Below are three of the ways we serve those in our local community:
Saturday Community Breakfasts
Serving hot breakfast and great company!
A devoted team has served this ministry since it started in 2007. On most Saturdays from 8-9:30 am, the team offers a hot breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausages, and toast in a safe, inclusive, and family-like atmosphere.
Guests are welcome to come just as they are: no payment is required, no personal questions are asked, and no means test is applied. This ministry is about trust and mutual respect between team members and guests. Our breakfast program supplements Calvin Presbyterian’s long-running breakfast program. Team leaders from both churches continue to communicate, and although both breakfasts operate independently, we are proud of our ongoing ecumenical collaboration.
Rummage Sales
Twice a year – once in the fall and once in the spring – our popular Rummage Sale brings the whole community together, from long-time parishioners to high school volunteers learning the ropes alongside seasoned organizers.
We work with diverse people from across our community to create meaningful events that support our values to care for the earth, and generous hospitality. It is faith in action and a lot of fun!
Congregation Care Team
This robust ministry of volunteers connects with those who may be unable to attend church due to health challenges. We rely on members of our community to share when they notice someone hasn’t been for a while, and then check in to see if the individual would like assistance.
A friendly telephone call, an in-person visit, bringing communion to a residence or a hospital are all part of keeping our community feeling connected and cared for.
So we strive to be curious and open—loving those on the margins as well as those of us who feel at home in the Church. We feed the hungry at our community breakfasts and we welcome refugees to a new life in Canada. We believe all people are created in the image of God and our LGBTQ2SI siblings are included in all the practices of our life of faith.
Prayer List
As a spiritual community, we routinely pray for the well-being and needs of others, and anyone may add a name to our prayer list.
People remain on our list for three weeks unless a longer period is requested. (For privacy reasons, we record first names only and do not publish identifying information or background details.) If there is someone you think would benefit from our prayers, we hope that you will let us know.

The Congregation of Christ Church Deer Park is a loving and caring one. Members of our community notice when someone hasn’t been for a while and will let us know so that we can check if assistance would be helpful.

It’s one of our best intergenerational traditions: mentoring happens as much over sorting tables as it does anywhere else at Christ Church Deer Park.
Food Bank
We support the Churches on the Hill Food Bank, with a drop-off spot in our atrium for donations.
The Food Bank also supports our own Community Breakfast program, making this a partnership that gives back to our own community as well.
